The PPORA Level 2 Conditions Race for Veteran Horses (10yo+) at Revesby Park on Saturday 18th January has attracted 14 entries, headed by the ultra-consistent Go Go Geronimo, trained by Kelly Morgan. His record in points is six wins, 13 places and an unseat and he should improve for his seasonal debut. Heidi Brookshaw’s Buzzard Trix is second top-rated but seems to reserve his best for Tabley in May. Others who perform well later in the season are Michael Dawson’s Golden Taipan (older readers will be familiar with the exploits of his top-class pointers Sweet Diana, Upham Lord and Palypso De Creek) and Mountain Assault, from the Dale Peters yard, who goes well fresh. Gina Andrews’ Benefaktor is another with admirable consistency (five wins and nine places from 14 starts), Joan Johnston’s Who’s In The Box showed snatches of form in a higher grade last season, Julie Wadland’s Golden Tobouggan would be the oldest runner at 14 and in with a squeak if returning to form, while Rhythm Is A Dancer was useful for Olive Nicholls two seasons back and is now in the care of Fred and Tom Hutsby.
