MILBORNE ST ANDREW - SUNDAY 2ND FEBRUARY
By Jake Exelby
The PPORA Level 2 Conditions Race for horses aged eight and over at Milborne St Andrew on Sunday 2ndFebruary has attracted 25 entries, the highest on the card. Joint top-rated are Laura Jones’ May Vauterhill winner Pileon and Jo Priest’s Everything Now, who scored impressively in December 2023 but has not raced since. Punches Cross, trained by Daniele Kenealy, won here in March then subsequently at Flete Park, while the talented but quirky Southfield Lily won a match at Badbury Rings in November and will be partnered by trainer Lily Bradstock. Another trainer-ridden horse, Izzy Lever’s Millbank Flyer, won here in 2023, ran well on his Larkhill reappearance but less so there last time, and Raddon Top, for Lara Pope, was a good third recently at Wadebridge, where he seems to run best. Two jockey bookings that catch the eye are James King on Angela Slatter’s Alaphilippe (how any of you knew that he’s named after a double world cycling champion?) who will have to improve on his pointing form, and Will Biddick on Knockmoylan, who has only raced once since 2021/2022 but is now in the care of rising star of the training ranks Harry Ryall, who has also entered last season’s triple winner – one of which was on this card – Scoresby.
